Score 80% or more on your course's final assessment and your certificate is issued automatically, the moment you pass. A course with boss battles also asks you to pass every one of them, and its rule on screen says so.
The rule for your course
Every course shows its rule in the Earn your certificate panel on its course home (4), with a Take the final assessment button underneath, and again on your Certificates page. On most courses it is one line: score 80% or more on the final assessment.
Some courses also have boss battles, bigger practical challenges at the end of certain modules. On those, you need to pass every boss battle as well as the final assessment (which those courses call the capstone), and the rule on screen spells that out.

- Number 1: How far through the course you are.
- Number 2: Start or continue: always takes you to your next lesson.
- Number 3: Modules and lessons. A video badge marks a video lesson.
- Number 4: What it takes to earn your certificate, and the button for the final assessment.
- Number 5: Stuck? This gets you to a real person.
What happens when you pass
There's nothing to apply for and nothing to wait for. As soon as you pass:
Your result screen tells you your certificate is ready, with a link straight to it.
We email you, with a link to your certificate.
A notice lands in your notifications.
The certificate appears on your Certificates page with its credential ID, ready to download and share.
The name printed on it comes from your account settings, so check it before you sit the final assessment. Here's how.
Retakes, and what doesn't count
You can retake the final assessment as many times as you like, and only your best score counts. If you fall short, the result screen points you to the lessons worth another look before you have another go.
Module checkpoints aren't part of the rule, and nor are XP, streaks or how many lessons you've ticked off. The final assessment covers the whole course, though, so working through the lessons and checkpoints is how you'll pass it.

Bought a bundle?
Each course in a bundle has its own final assessment and issues its own certificate, so a three-course bundle can earn you three certificates. There's no separate certificate for the bundle itself.
