Every module ends with a checkpoint: eight questions, a 75% pass mark and as many retakes as you like. The final assessment covers the whole course, and scoring 80% or more on it earns your certificate.
Before a checkpoint starts
You'll find each checkpoint at the end of its module, on your course home and in the lesson contents. Open one and the rules are set out before anything starts:
How many questions, and roughly how long (1): eight questions, about ten minutes.
The pass mark (2): 75%, which is six out of eight.
Retakes (3): as many as you like, and only your best score counts.
Start the quiz (4) when you're ready.

- Number 1: How many questions, and roughly how long.
- Number 2: The pass mark.
- Number 3: Retake it as often as you like. Only your best score counts.
- Number 4: Start when you are ready.
The OBA Tutor won't answer checkpoint questions, and it isn't on the checkpoint screen. It's happy to help you prepare, though: open a lesson from that module and ask it to quiz you.
Taking a checkpoint
Press Start the quiz.
Pick an answer and press Next question. Not sure? Skip for now moves you on, but a skipped question counts as wrong.
Press Finish on the last question. You see how you did at the end, not after each question.
Press Review your answers to see every question with the right answer and the reasoning.
Didn't pass? Your result lists the lessons worth another look, with a link to each. Revisit those, then press Have another go. The answers come in a new order each time.
What checkpoints count for
Checkpoints don't decide your certificate, and you don't have to pass one to open the next module. They're there to show you any gaps while the module is fresh, so the final assessment holds no surprises.
Passing one earns 50 XP the first time, and the day counts towards your study streak.
The final assessment
On our video courses the final assessment is 20 questions drawn from the whole course. It takes about 30 minutes and the pass mark is 80%. It works like a checkpoint: retake it as often as you like, and only your best score counts.
Pass it and your certificate is issued straight away. The result screen links to it, it appears on your Certificates page and we email you too. How do I earn my certificate? covers the rest.
If your course home's certificate panel mentions boss battles, that course also has a few longer tests along the way. You need to pass every one of them as well as the final assessment, which that course calls the capstone.
To start it, open your course home and press Take the final assessment in the Earn your certificate panel. Once you've finished the lessons and checkpoints, it's also the next step on your dashboard.
