The language of data, learned by writing it. Real queries against tables you designed and loaded yourself.
Outcomes
Curriculum
7 modules and 79 lessons, with around 27 hours of video. Work through them in order, at your own pace.
Portfolio
A certificate proves you finished. The work you build along the way is what gets you hired.
A schema you design, create and load: related tables, keys and constraints, filled with enough rows to behave like a real one.
Dozens of queries written from a plain-English brief, the way a request would actually reach you at work.

When not to buy this course
If your questions can be answered inside a single spreadsheet, Excel for Data Analysis may be all you need for now. SQL earns its place when the data lives in a database or has outgrown a sheet.

Good to know
Yes, and everything you need is free. The demonstrations use Microsoft SQL Server with SQL Server Management Studio, and the course walks through the setup. You can follow along in another database if you prefer, and the notes flag the handful of places where the syntax differs.
The basics are friendlier than most people expect. Queries read almost like English, and because every lesson has you writing them, they stick.
The core of SQL is the same everywhere, and that core is what you learn. The demonstrations are in Microsoft SQL Server, so a few things are Microsoft-specific: TOP is the clearest example, where MySQL and PostgreSQL use LIMIT instead. The notes say so wherever it comes up.
Advanced SQL, which picks up exactly where this stops: outer joins, subqueries, indexes, transactions and window functions. Or Power BI, if your next step is dashboards. Both build directly on what you learn here.
Seven modules and 79 lessons, around 27 hours of video, with written notes on every lesson and 40 interactive questions along the way. There are seven checkpoints of eight questions and a 20-question final assessment, and passing the final earns the certificate. Modules three to seven are five sets of practice exercises, so most of the course is you writing SQL rather than watching somebody else write it.
For life. You pay once, keep lifetime access, and there is no subscription. There is also a 7-day money-back guarantee if it turns out not to fit.
