Technology & AI courses
Intermediate levelThis AI automation course teaches you to take the copying, pasting and chasing out of a working week, with no code. You'll route enquiries with an AI step in Make, check trade customers on Companies House, read supplier invoices and stop a changed bank detail before anyone pays, then build an agent that asks before it acts. You'll test and cost every build, and keep a person signing off anything that matters.
Course overview
This course builds automations for a fictional UK garden furniture retailer. You start in Zapier, move to Make for multi-step work, then learn to choose what is worth automating, handle messy data, connect apps through APIs and webhooks, add AI steps you can rely on and build human approvals. Testing and monitoring, Power Automate, data protection and an AI agent in n8n follow, and you finish by automating a real process.
By the end you can spot the tasks worth automating, build them in visual tools with AI steps and human checks, and hand over something a colleague can run. It suits operations, admin, finance and customer service staff, analysts and business owners who already use AI every week.

Career outcomes
Automating a process is the easy part, and doing it without creating new risks is the skill. Working builds, each with its test results and a runbook, and a certificate to back them, show an employer you have it.

If AI assistants are still new to you, start with AI at Work: automation multiplies whatever habits you bring to it. If you'd rather write automations as code, Python Programming is your route. And if you're setting your organisation's AI plans rather than building, choose AI for Business Leaders.
A course advisor will talk it through with you free, and will say so if a different course fits your goal better.
Good to know
You start with simple automations running in Zapier, then move to Make for multi-step scenarios with filters, routers and AI steps. Next you learn to choose what is worth automating, tame lists and messy data, and connect apps with no ready-made connector through APIs and webhooks. Then come AI steps you can measure, human approvals, testing and monitoring, Power Automate in Microsoft 365, data protection, an AI agent in n8n, and a capstone that automates a real process.
No. Everything is built in visual tools, and the technical ideas you meet along the way, like JSON and APIs, are taught from scratch. If you can follow a flowchart, you can follow the course.
Mostly not. Zapier, Make, Slack and the rest are used on free plans, with a month of a paid Make plan when several builds need to run side by side. AI steps use pay-as-you-go credit from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, or a free tier where one is offered, with budget alerts set first. Plan limits change, so the course shows you where to check them.
All three, for different jobs. Zapier is the gentlest start, Make carries most of the multi-step builds because it handles branching and loops well, and Power Automate is the one to know if your workplace runs on Microsoft 365. The ideas (triggers, steps, checks) transfer between them, and n8n comes in for the AI agent.
No. Every build is for a fictional UK garden furniture retailer, so no customer data goes anywhere near your test builds. The capstone is the place to bring a real process from your own work, or you can work from a brief.
Everyday use. You should be comfortable using an AI assistant for work and working in a spreadsheet. If assistants are new to you, start with AI at Work.
No, and be wary of anyone who says you can. AI steps make mistakes, so the builds in this course measure their accuracy and keep a person signing off wherever the output matters. The goal is fewer boring tasks, not unattended ones.
Yes. Pass the final assessment and you get an OBA certificate of completion that an employer can verify online. It isn't a Microsoft Power Platform certification or an accredited qualification. Your working builds, with their test results, are the other half of the proof.
