Digital marketing courses
Intermediate levelThis online SEO course teaches you the work an SEO executive does, from keyword research to fixes a developer will act on. You'll research what UK customers really search for, crawl a site to find what's holding it back, write content that earns trust, win local searches and shape pages AI answers can quote, then prove every change with evidence rather than promises.
Course overview
This course follows the SEO of a fictional York garden centre, on a WordPress site running on your own computer, so nothing you break is ever live. It starts with how search works and a free toolkit, then moves through keywords, on-page work, content, crawling and indexing, speed and structured data, local search, links, ecommerce and migrations, and AI search, and finishes with reporting and a full audit of a live site.
By the end you can map keywords so no two pages compete, find and rank what's broken on a site, write tickets a developer will pick up, add structured data that validates and diagnose a traffic drop calmly. Whether you've been handed the SEO, run your own site or want a first SEO role, you finish knowing what to fix first and why.

Career outcomes
Rankings take months, so employers hire people who can show their method rather than promise quick wins. You finish with an audit, a keyword map and a roadmap that show yours, and a certificate that opens the conversation.

If you need enquiries this month, start with Google Ads for faster results and come back for the long game: SEO pays off over months. If you're new to marketing altogether, start with Digital Marketing. And if you want the wider picture for less, the Digital Marketing Bundle includes this course alongside Digital Marketing and Meta Ads.
A course advisor will talk it through with you free, and will say so if a different course fits your goal better.
Good to know
The whole job, technical side included. You start with how search works and a free toolkit, then keyword research, on-page fixes and content that earns trust. The middle of the course is technical: crawling, indexing, speed, rendering and structured data. Then come local SEO, links and digital PR, ecommerce and site migrations, getting a site ready for AI search, and reporting, finishing with a full audit and roadmap as your capstone.
No. You'll learn to read a page's HTML and headers in Chrome, and to write structured data that passes Google's Rich Results Test, but nothing you'd call programming. The course moves at a professional pace, so being comfortable editing pages in a CMS matters more than any coding.
No. The course is built on Search Console, Keyword Planner, PageSpeed Insights, GA4 and Screaming Frog's free version. Semrush and Ahrefs are shown so you recognise them, but you never need a subscription.
Google Ads if you need results this month, because you pay per click and traffic starts the day a campaign goes live. SEO if you're building traffic that keeps coming without a bill per visit, and can wait months for it: anyone promising faster is selling something. They work well together, because paid search shows you which searches convert before you spend months ranking for them.
No. You practise on WordPress running on your own computer, so you can crawl it, break it and fix it without risking anything live, and the capstone has you audit a live UK site as well. If you have a site you can verify in Search Console, use it too.
A Windows, Mac or Linux computer you can install software on. The technical lessons run WordPress and a crawler on your own machine, both free on all three, so a work laptop that blocks installs will make them harder.
No, but it's changing, and the course treats AI search as part of the job. It has a module of its own, from deciding which AI crawlers to allow to writing passages that stand on their own, built on the same foundations as the rest of the course: useful content, sound structure and real authority.
Yes. Pass the final assessment and you get an OBA certificate of completion that an employer can verify online. It isn't a Google, HubSpot or Semrush certification. Your audit, keyword map and roadmap are the other half of the proof, and in SEO they're what an interviewer will want to see.
