Digital marketing courses
Beginner friendlyThis Google Analytics course teaches you to set up GA4 and Google Tag Manager so you can trust what the numbers say, without writing code. You'll plan what to measure, track clicks, forms, leads and every step from basket to checkout, add a consent banner that follows UK rules and tag every campaign, then audit a broken setup and make GA4's revenue match the shop's own orders.
Course overview
This course builds the tracking for a fictional Sheffield bike shop, from its first tag to its last sale, in your own GA4 property and Tag Manager container. It starts with getting tracking live and how GA4 counts, then moves through reports, a measurement plan, tags, triggers and variables, consent mode, event and ecommerce tracking and advertising tags, and finishes with explorations, auditing and a capstone tracking project.
By the end you can turn business goals into a tracking plan a developer could build from, publish tags you've tested, prove they respect each visitor's consent and explain exactly why GA4 and the shop disagree. Whether you run campaigns, manage a website or want the technical side of an analyst role, you stop waiting on someone else for numbers you can trust.

Career outcomes
Budgets follow the numbers, so the person who can prove the tracking is right gets listened to. Tracking work is hired on evidence, and you finish with a measurement plan, a consent-aware container and an audit report to walk an interviewer through.

If your real question is which channel deserves more budget, Marketing Analytics is the better fit: this course builds the tracking, and that one makes sense of the numbers. If you're brand new to marketing, start with Digital Marketing and come back when you need the measurement. And if you want dashboards that blend GA4 with other data, Looker Studio goes further on that.
A course advisor will talk it through with you free, and will say so if a different course fits your goal better.
Good to know
GA4 and Tag Manager, from your first tag to an audit of someone else's broken setup. You start by getting tracking live and seeing how GA4 counts people, sessions and events, then learn its reports and write a measurement plan. After that come tags, triggers and variables, consent mode and UK privacy rules, click, form, video and ecommerce tracking, campaign and advertising tags, explorations, and testing and auditing, ending in a capstone tracking project.
No. Tag Manager exists so you can manage tracking without editing a site's code. You'll read a little HTML and a CSS selector, and adapt short, tested snippets where a tag needs one, but you never write code from scratch.
Quite different, yes. GA4 is built around events rather than sessions and pageviews, and the interface changed with it. The course assumes no earlier version, so lapsed users and complete beginners start in the same place.
Yes. The standard versions of both are free and do everything the course needs. Google Analytics 360, the paid enterprise version, isn't required.
This course if you need to build the tracking: tags, events, consent and ecommerce. Marketing Analytics if the tracking exists and you need to prove which channels earn their budget. Take this one when you need the plumbing and that one when you need the answers.
Yes. The course has you build the tracking for a fictional Sheffield bike shop, and Google's free demo account gives you months of real shop data for the reporting and exploration lessons. If you run a site, or an employer's with written permission, your capstone can be a real one.
Any computer that runs Google Chrome: Windows, Mac or a Chromebook. GA4 and Tag Manager run in the browser with nothing to install, and the lessons use Chrome's free Tag Assistant extension and developer tools to check exactly what each tag sends.
Yes. Pass the final assessment and you get an OBA certificate of completion that an employer can verify online. It isn't Google's own Google Analytics certification or preparation for it. The measurement plan, container and audit you build are the other half of the proof.
