Yes. The free version is genuinely capable and it is what this course uses. Resolve Studio adds extras, but nothing in the course needs it.
Resolve if you want a free tool with professional depth, especially in colour. Premiere Pro if the teams and clients around you use Adobe. The editing craft transfers between them.
Resolve appreciates a decent machine, and it runs on ordinary hardware once you know the settings. The course covers optimised media, proxies and render cache, which is how you edit 4K on a laptop that cannot play it smoothly. You work with your own footage, so you can start with something modest.
No. It is a full editor, and the cut and edit pages are where this course starts. Colour is the second half, and it is where Resolve really stands out.
Every OBA certificate can be verified online by an employer. It is earned by passing the final assessment. The work employers will actually ask to see is a piece you have cut and graded yourself, which is what the course is preparing you to make.

There are eleven checkpoints of eight questions and a 20-question final assessment, and passing the final earns the certificate. The demonstrations were recorded on an earlier release. The seven pages and the way they work are the same, so everything transfers, and some panels have moved slightly. Where the video quotes a price or names a service that has since changed, the written notes say so.
